Which verses in the Bible helps us to trust in God?
The Bible is full of lots and lots of verses of comfort and peace. But, are there Bible verses about trusting God? It is so difficult to trust God when we live in the here and now, and there is little evidence of seeing God’s provision, especially in the modern world that we live in. But, we can still trust in God, and there are plenty of Bible verses right throughout Scripture on this topic. He is faithful, and He can be trusted.
Proverbs 3:5 is a classic one Bible verse, that talks about trusting in God, and not relying on our own understanding. This verse makes it clear that trusting in God requires a blind faith. God is God, He is in heaven, and His ways are not our ways. And for that reason, when we trust Him, we can’t rely on our own understanding of how things work, because our own understanding is lacking what God knows and sees, and that He has not revealed to us.
Psalm 37:4-6 is one of my favorite Bible verses about trusting in God. It talks about committing whatever we do to Him, delighting in Him, and then He will give you the desires of your heart. Does this mean that if you desire to have a Porsche that He is going to give you a Porsche? Probably not. But as we trust in Him and commit our daily lives to Him each day, He helps us, and He aligns our will to be more in line with His will. When He sees His children wanting His will, He loves granting them those desires. Does that mean that He will never grant you the desires you want, like perhaps having a baby, or finding a husband, or a job? No, that does not mean that. God sees your heart, and your desires. He granted Solomon his wish to get wisdom, He can grant you your hearts desire too if you commit your ways to Him.
Romans 8:28 is a Bible verse about trusting in God that is a little bit more complex to understand. When bad things happen to us, this Bible verse does not mention trusting in God, but it does mention that all things work out for those who love the Lord, and not just work out, but work out for the good of them. What does this mean? If you’ve lost your job, or you are going through a trial of sorts, this verse means that God has allowed it for your good. He could be growing you. There could be a blessing for you just around the corner. He could also be preventing you from getting in a car accident if you can’t start your car. All things work out for the good of people who love the Lord.
Psalm 9:10 is a Bible Verse about God not forsaking those who love Him. This is trusting God on a new level. Things may go wrong and the world might implode around you, but if you love God, then He will not forsake you. I have seen this first hand, where God has provided money, food and other necessities for those who love Him and were in need of some provision, including in my own life.
There are many other Bible verses that speak about trusting in God. God is faithful and He comes through when He needs to. We need to learn to develop a trust in God, so deep, so strong, that nothing phases us. If you love God, and follow Him with all your being, obey Him, worship Him and everything else that it entails, He will take care of you. There are plenty of Bible verses to confirm that you can trust in God. He is faithful. He can be trusted, and He will provide. He knows what is best for us. Just like a father won’t give his children what is bad for them, but seeks their good, so God seeks the good of those who trust in Him. In Jeremiah 29:11 it states that God has good plans for you, to prosper you and not to bring harm upon you. Therefore, we can trust Him, knowing that all the Bible verses about trusting in God is true and there to encourage us.
