Frugal French Bread Recipe

Frugal French Bread Recipe Method

In today’s financial climate, it is becoming more and more common for people to find cheaper and alternative ways to make the budget stretch. Every two dollars that you save by not buying bread, and rather making your own, adds up to help with the grocery budget.

When you have kids, they do not always like the bread that you bake. However, this is a tried and true recipe that I love, and that our kids have easily accepted. French bread is not only frugal, but also a staple recipe favorite in my house.

So how to we make this French bread recipe? With only a few ingredients, such as yeast, warm water, salt, flour and olive oil, and some time, you can quickly whip up a batch of this frugal French bread recipe. All you need is patience and some time to babysit for about ten minutes. The total time in the kitchen will be about 10 minutes.

Now if you really want to, you can make this the traditional way by kneading the dough yourself, but I have found a quick way to make this frugal French bread recipe with little or no time in the kitchen. This saves me hours of time and helps me to get it ready for the next day, even if I have a hectic schedule that day.

First, I add the yeast, water and sugar to the bread mixer pan and close the lid. I let it stay warm that way. When the yeast has frothed, I add the flour, oil and extra water. Then I let the bread mixer mix it on the pizza dough setting. Once it’s mixed, I add it to a glass bowl and cover it to let it rise.

The French bread recipe does not work when it’s cold. The way that you get around that is to warm up your oven to about 100F, put the bread dough in and let it rise, keeping the door open. Once it’s warmed up though, you have to switch the oven off. Keep babysitting the oven temperature by just checking every now and then if you need to warm it up slightly again. This provides the necessary warmth to cook a perfect frugal French bread recipe without warm temperatures.
